Bio

Macarena joined Founders Pledge as Member Experience Operations Manager in June 2022. Prior to joining FP, she worked as Member Engagement Officer for Girls Not Brides, a global movement of civil society organisations working to end child marriage. Previously, she held roles in several non-profits in Denmark and Israel, focused on torture rehabilitation and refugee rights. Macarena earned a Master’s degree in International Relations and Development from Aalborg University, Denmark.

Outside of work, Macarena likes to spend her time outdoors and in nature, mainly cycling, rowing and hiking (one day there will hopefully be a triathlon of these three!).

Q&A with Macarena

Q: If you could choose anyone famous (real or fictional) to have dinner with who would they be and why?

I’d love to sit down with someone who lived during the prehistoric ages (and be able to communicate with them in some way!) so that I could understand what cave paintings meant to them, and see what they would make of humanity’s technological progress.

Q: As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A vet, an astronaut and a painter (in that order of preference!)

Q: If a movie was made of your life what genre would it be, who would play you?

A quirky indie film with lots of memorable characters in it, and featuring many languages and locations - something that Wes Anderson would direct!
