Bio
Matt joined Founders Pledge in early 2019 and has worked across nearly every area of Founders Pledge since then. He started his career as a Youth Worker, working with children and young people with special educational needs and behavioural issues and, with a BA in Politics and French in hand, moved into the corporate world with Deloitte, before moving into the Visual Effects industry where he focused on building exceptional employee experiences, and then into the startup world as Head of People, where he developed a strong belief in the power of people and the great things teams and communities can achieve when working towards the same goal.
Matt joined Founders Pledge as People Director, responsible for building the team and culture from an emerging startup to the thriving global organisation it is today, and in 2021 his role widened to include leadership of Finance, Risk and Operations. Since July 2023, Matt has been leading our Member Experience function as Chief Experience Officer, responsible for the teams behind everything related to our membership including the experiences our members enjoy on their road to becoming effective philanthropists.
Outside of work, Matt is an avid golfer, a rugby fan, a musician and a food-lover. He also loves a good dad joke.
Q&A with Matt
Q: If you could choose anyone famous (real or fictional) to have dinner with who would they be and why?
Derren Brown - I realise that by the end of the meal I will either be hypnotised or he will have stolen all of my possessions, but I reckon it would be worth it.
Q: As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A musician. Or failing that, a Power Ranger.
Q: If a movie was made of your life what genre would it be, who would play you?
It would be a hybrid of musical, comedy and boring documentary. Probably starring Mark Ruffalo.
